Evangelism & Personal Ministries

Evangelism—The Michigan Conference is committed, by God's grace, to proclaiming the everlasting gospel in the context of the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14. Following Jesus’ method, our evangelistic strategy and aim is to Grow Michigan churches through a five-stage evangelistic process that includes: (1) preparing the soil of the heart with friendship and compassionate service, (2) planting the seeds of God’s Word with literature, (3) cultivating spiritual interests with Bible studies, (4) harvesting decisions for Christ and the truth with public evangelistic meetings, and (5) preserving new members with ongoing discipleship.

Personal Ministries—“The Lord desires that His word of grace shall be brought home to every soul. To a great degree this must be accomplished by personal labor. This was Christ’s method” (Christian Service, p. 117). The aim of the Personal Ministries Department is to involve every member of the Michigan Conference in personal soul-winning labor. To aid in this endeavor, the department provides essential training, tools, and resources for Michigan Conference churches and their members to be effective witnesses for Christ. Specialized ministries such as Hope for Humanity (Ingathering), Prison Ministries, and Disabilities Ministries are also within the purview of the department.

Training Center Church (TCC) Committee—“Every church should be a training school for Christian workers” (Christian Service, p. 59). TCC is an ad hoc committee of the Michigan Conference, which produces resources to help transform local churches into training centers. The Evangelism and Personal Ministries Departments, in partnership with the Ministerial Department, give leadership to this committee. TCC aims to empower local church leaders and members, thus enabling pastors who have been “hovering over churches” to extend their labors to the “thousands” who are “perishing out of Christ” (Evangelism, p. 381). The heart of TCC is the goal of involving every member in personal, truth-sharing labor.
