Update on Camp Meeting, Church Closures, & Summer Camp

On April 10, Elder Jim Micheff, president of the Michigan Conference, shared the decision to cancel this year’s camp meeting in his weekly video address. Camp meeting was scheduled to take place at Cedar Lake, Michigan from June 12-20. Camp meeting will be replaced with a conference-wide week of prayer, a decision made in conjunction with the Michigan Conference Executive Committee. . .

Schools Transition to Four-day Work Week

In light of the executive order (2020-35) issued by the state governor on Thursday, April 2, all K-12 schools of the Michigan Conference have closed their physical doors for the remainder of the school year and will continue the distance learning initiative that was implemented on Monday, March 30. Conference schools have also transitioned to a four-day work week. . .

Monday, March 23. With the release of the new executive order (2020-21) by state authorities, the following is in effect from tomorrow, March 24 through April 13.

March 19, 2020. Earlier this week on Tuesday, we stated that churches could physically meet as long as the shared space had 50 or less members in compliance with the state executive order. However, we are now asking that all churches close their doors through the month of March. . .

Executive Order Prompts Adjustments

March 17, 2020. The executive order (2020-11) that was issued by the state governor last night states that “all assemblages of more than 50 people in a single indoor shared space and all events of more than 50 people are prohibited in this state.” The 50-person limit remains in effect from today

Jeremy Hall to Be New Superintendent of Schools

Diane Barlow, superintendent of schools for the Michigan Conference, recently announced she will be retiring at the end of April. She has served as both the associate and superintendent of schools for the past seven years. She and her husband, Marc, will be moving to Tennessee to be closer to family. Her sweet disposition and godly spirit will be sorely missed.
