Emmanuel Institute Trains Church Members to Be Effective Missionaries

Twenty students representing a dozen local churches enrolled in Emmanuel Institute, a training program offered by the Personal Ministries Department.

The program provides practical training in discipleship and outreach, including Bible labs and hands-on opportunities where students receive step-by-step coaching in the practical aspects of evangelism.

In just one hour of outreach in a Lansing neighborhood, Emmanuel students secured 10 Bible study interests, reports Kameron DeVasher, director of Personal Ministries and Emmanuel Institute. Those individuals will be followed up with by Emmanuel students this upcoming Sabbath, and later by members of the Lansing church.

Each year, the Emmanuel Institute conducts two week-long training intensives, says DeVasher. The first one this year took place in January with all the students and faculty of Great Lakes Adventist Academy. Read more about that event here.

Next year, Emmanuel courses will be held at the Michigan Conference office March 29–April 4 and September 20–26. Space is limited, so churches should begin planning now to ensure key leaders can attend. Click here to be added to the waiting list.
